The Catholic Schools Office, Diocese Maitland-Newcastle is seeking a temporary part-time (18 hours per week) Intern to join the ASPIRE team in January 2024 for 12 months.

ASPIRE is the Maitland/Newcastle Catholic Schools Office creative and performing arts program. With an emphasis on fostering creativity the ASPIRE program has a large number of programs on offer including in schools workshops and performance support and professional development for staff as well as special projects in areas such as songwriting, scriptwriting, devising theatre and choreography. ASPIRE also creates an original production each year through which students can audition to be a part of through dance, design, drama, musical and production ensembles.

Job Description


Working under the direction of the Aspire Artistic Director, the Aspire intern is a year long paid internship designed to give ex students an insight into the running of a arts program for young people. The role is designed to be a learning experience whilst also providing support to the Artitic Director in the delivery of ASPIRE programs including the production, Anzac Event and Theatre Makers Programs.

Desired Skills and Experience

EXPERIENCE/CRITERIA

  • Ability to articulate a clear understanding of and a personal commitment to Catholic education and the mission of the church through Catholic schools
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • A genuine interest in the Creative and Performing Arts with a particular interest in production, visual art, drama or music.
  • Ability to use initiative and work independently
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Be a current year 12 student attending a Diocese of Maitland/Newcastle Catholic School

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Current paid NSW Working with Children Check (WWCC) number

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Salary is in accordance with the Catholic Schools Office Maitland-Newcastle Agreement 2019.
