This role will be responsible for managing the overall export and import operations.
Responsibilities:
- Manage overall export and import operations.
- Develop, implement and continuously enhance air freight forwarding operational procedures (import and export).
- Lead negotiation of rates and contracts with air carriers.
- Collaborate with sales functions to execute business plan targets.
- Build and maintain long term relations with clients, airlines and terminals.
- Oversee compliance with TSA, Customs, laws and regulations for importing and exporting.
- Flexibility to adjust work schedule based on operational requirements.
- Lead, motivate, and support a large team within a time-sensitive and demanding environment, including career development plans for direct reports and problem resolution.
- Manage data collection for the updating of metrics to achieve productivity targets, reduce cost per unit, eliminate errors, and deliver excellent customer service.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to improve proprietary tools and systems.
- Work closely with legal and safety departments to ensure that activities remain compliant.
- Oversee materials and inventory.
Experience:
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in an airfreight supervisory or management position.
- Strong knowledge of command of documentation, procedures and rules for air cargo transportation.
- Experience with Cargowise preferred.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- A true passion for customer service; you enjoy delivering your best to clients.
- Good communication skills
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in operations management, business administration, or related field
- Computer knowledge MS Office
- Strong IT skills, including database development.
- Ability to communicate in English and Bahasa Malaysia. Additional language would be added advantage.
